To take our minds off Covid-19 and Dettol shortages for a little while, the new and improved xplorer² version 4.4 is out, featuring these main additions: (see the changelog for the full list of changes)
Favorite mass renaming settings. There are so many options in the mass rename dialog that something had to be done about them. Now you can save your favorite search and replace templates as a whole, and easily repeat them in the future using the Predefined drop-down box. The same GUI can change other text file properties like Author and Comment, not just filenames! (see the new Actions > File properties menu command)
Dynamic thumbnail sizing. Hold down <Ctrl> key while rolling your mouse's scrollwheel to change view style from details to thumbnails and back. Thumbnails grow bigger gradually up to a maximum size, so you can see your pictures more clearly, without the preview panel.
Folder tree blacklist. The folder tree is infested with double and odd folder items which you may never use. You can hide folders you don't need using the tree context menu (xplorer² > Hide this folder menu command) on the unwanted folders. To show all folders again right click on the tree background and tick off Use blacklist menu option.
A new registry tweak called szExclusionFilter sets a global exclusion filter, extending the hidden file attribute to other files and folders
Upgrade information
Version 4.4 is a free upgrade for most people that already own v4.x licenses. A small exception is people who got a v4.0 key as a free upgrade using the "free upgrades for a year" policy. So if your unlock key is dated before 1 February 2018 (check your About dialog), then you'd need a new key, but you may be able to get one with a discount. On the other hand if you've already bought a v4.x key or you own the free lifetime upgrades cover, you don't have to pay again.
Please use Help > Check for updates menu command or the equivalent from ribbon's File leftmost tab to get the new version. If you don't have xplorer² installed try the download page for your free trial.
