■ Turn xplorer² into an easy PDF to kindle e-book converter
Here is a
quick tip. Amazon Kindle e-book reader can theoretically use PDF books, but practically it doesn't work. Either it shows a whole PDF page, where you can't see anything, or you have to work hard zooming and scrolling. Using xplorer², select the PDF book and use
Edit > Extract text menu command, and it will create a plain text file based on the PDF. Import the TXT file in kindle and you have a proper reading experience — with a few drawbacks:
- If the PDF contains images or mathematical equations, they are lost in the conversion (but Kindle is hardly the tool for academic texts anyway).
- Depending on the PDF text filter you have installed, paragraph formatting may be distorted, especially if you use the default windows 10 PDF filter. But if you have a decent PDF reader like sumatra PDF, you should be fine
- Make sure you rename the text file to include the book author and title, for easy recognition inside Kindle
- If your book is not in English, set xplorer² to extract unicode text. Use Tools > Advanced options menu and in Global page tick the option "Paste text in folder saved as unicode file" (GAOPT_SAVEUNICODETXT setting)
