Here's a treat for all you eBook lovers and collectors, a free for all pack of shell extension handlers for most popular eBook formats, that let you search for text and preview your books in windows file explorer and other shell aware file managers like xplorer² and DeskRule. So you can search in your books contents for keywords and preview the results — even see thumbnails of eBook covers — without special software.
There are many different e-book formats and each requires its own text filters and preview handlers downloaded and installed, as those in xplorer² plugins page. The present package gathers handlers for most popular ebook types in a single installation for your convenience. The following e-book types are included:

Credits
Although I put in some work bundling and optimizing this comprehensive list of ebook handlers, most of the hard work comes from other peoples' open source software. I merely wrapped their code into shell extension DLLs (technically IFilter, IPreviewHandler and IThumbnailProvider support). For compilation I used visual studio 2022 community edition. Here is the list:
- libmobi. Text search filters for Kindle books
- Sumatra and muPDF. Most of the text and preview handlers are based on this github project (all but kindle books).
Sorry no preview handlers for XPS and Palm (only text filters)
I deliberately left out "comic book" (CBZ etc) types because they hardly contain any text to be searched. If you need CBZ previewers install Sumatra PDF.
